LuVerne Monson, 80, Webster City, died Monday, Nov. 22, 1999 at the Hamilton Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Asbury United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Morgan and Cindi O'Brien officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral Home from 5-9 p.m. Friday and after noon on Saturday at the church.

LuVerne Leonard Monson, son of Leonard and Esther Swanson Monson, was born May 26, 1919 at Kirskville, MO. He graduated from the Brewster, MN high school and started farming with his father. On July 1, 1940 he married Lois Marcella Foote at Sibley. The couple farmed near Brewster for a short time, then moved to Iowa, farming in Boone and Hamilton Counties. In 1959, he moved to Webster City. For a short time, he sold Moorman Feeds. For 23 years, he worked for the Webster City school system in custodial department. He retired in 1981. The couple had wintered in Mesa, AZ for several years. Mrs. Monson died May 19, 1999.

Survivors are his son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Janice Monson of Nevada, granddaughters Kathy Ayers, Renne Hunzelman and Julie Green; six great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, a great-grandson Bennett Green and sisters Vernice Nelson, Goldie Clabaugh and Ethel Mellgren.

He was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church and the Holiday Rambler Traveling Club.
