Beatrice Fortune, 91, Webster City, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999 at the Southfield Care Center in Webster City. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Foster Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Morgan and Cindi O'Brien officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home on Sunday, and until the time of service on Monday.

Beatrice Elzina Lee, daughter of George and Christina Grossnickle Lee, was born May 8, 1908 at Ridgeport, IA. She attended the McKinney rural school north of Stratford and the Cutting rural school, east of Lehigh. On Nov. 30, 1925 she married Bernie Fortune at Lehigh. The couple resided in Webster City. In 1944, they moved near Homer then back to Webster City in 1960. She had worked at Selby's Produce, Morton's Frozen Foods and the Webster City Country Club. Mr. Fortune died in December of 1972.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, DeWayne and Maxine Fortune of Stanhope, daughter and son-in-law Esther and Harold Iles of Webster City; grandchildren, Rita Sogard, Wanda Olson, Wade Fortune, Trudy Huisman, Brad Iles, 11 great-grandchildren, sister, Jane Croxell of Webster City, several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Edward and Newton Lee, sister Iva Goodrich, a brother and sister in infancy, half-brothers Orville and George Lee, half-sisters Luella Frye and Lorraine Wilson.

She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and a volunteer for RSVP.
