Joseph K. Brewer, 90, died Friday, Aug. 13, 1999 at Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Webster City, with Rev. Travis Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Webster City. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Foster Funeral Home and prior to the service at the church.

Survivors are his wife, Viola, sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Richard and Bernita Brewer, Pleasant Hill, CA., Dr. Larry and Aletha Brewer, Charles City, Dr. Dennis and Judy Brewer of White Bear Lake, MN., eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Brenda Kiester Brewer, and sisters, Dorothy Carpenter and Mavis Nelson.

Joseph Kiester Brewer was born August 12, 1909 in Webster City, where he was raised and educated, graduating from high school in 1927. He then graduated from Webster City Junior College in 1929 and attended Iowa State University. He married Viola Paulson in 1932. They established their home in Webster City where he worked for Skelly Oil from 1934 to 1943. In 1943, he became employed with the U.S. Post Office, Webster City, retiring in 1977, as assistant postmaster. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, returning to Webster City in 1945.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Webster City. He was also a member of the Webster City Country Club and the American Legion Post 191 of Webster City.
