Richard Dean Holdgrafer, 51, Ellsworth, died July 22, 1999 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Memorial services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth.

Richard Dean Holdgrafer was born August 9, 1947 at the family home, the son of John A. and Grace [Minor] Holdgrafer. He grew up in the Williams area and graduated from Northeast Hamilton High School in 1965.

He married Susan Robb on June 17, 1971 at Trinity Lutheran Church of Webster City. The couple made their home in several communities in Central Iowa, living the past year in Ellsworth and prior to that, 20 years in Radcliffe. He began driving a truck in 1971 for North Central Trucking and then went to Weaver Redi-Mix, Story City Redi-Mix and then K.E. Erickson Manufacturing. Since 1982, he had been driving for Manatts of Ames.

Survivors are his wife, Sue of Ellsworth, two sons, Cody of Story City and Shane of Radcliffe; two sisters and two brothers, Margaret Bolden, Florence Klein, James and Dennis Holdgrafer, his in-laws, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Dorothy Van Langen, two brothers-in-law, Richard Klein and Bud Bolden, and one nephew, Robert Klein.
