Henry Lee Shafer, 83, Rochester, MN., died Friday, May 21, 1999 at his home near Rochester. Services were held at Ranfranz Funeral Home Chapel in Rochester on May 27 with Norbert Koprowski officiating. Interment of the cremains will be at Cass Cemetery at a later date.

He was born June 19, 1915 to Grace (McDaniel) and George W. Shafer Sr. in Webster City. He graduated from Webster City High School in 1933. He married Iona Beeson on August 10, 1936. They had resided in Rochester area 50 years where he worked in sales and repair at Sears before his retirement.

Survivors are his wife, Iona, three sons, Larry of Braham, MN., Richard and James of Rochester, nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, a sister, Verla MacCanon of Marshalltown, and a brother, George W. Shafer, Webster City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, a daughter, two grandchildren, and an infant brother, two sisters Ada and Harriet, three half-sisters and a half brother.
