Tilda "Tillie" Marie Brekke, 92, Story City, died Tuesday, April 6, 1999 at Bethany Manor Nursing home in Story City where she had been a resident since July of 1997. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City with Rev. Stephen Anenson and Rev. Tom Hunt officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Church Cemetery south of Jewell. Visitation will be Monday, April 12, 1999 after 3 p.m. at the Soderstrum-Larson Funeral Home in Story City with the family present from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Tilda Marie Oppedal was born Oct. 27, 1906 in Clear Lake Township of Hamilton County, the daughter of Mons and Oline Traedal Oppedal. She married Ingolf Olaus Brekke on March 30, 1929 in Fort Dodge. She was a homemaker and a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church at Story City. She lived in the Stanhope and Randall areas until 1972 when she moved to Story City.

Survivors are one daughter, Orvella Batchelder of Story City; three sons and daughters-in-law, Cleo and Margaret Brekke of Boone, Donald Brekke, Des Moines, Richard and Sandy Brekke of Boone; one sister, Marie and Elmer Jacobson, Hollywood, CA., one sister-in-law, Blanche Oppedal Hanson of Story City, 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a granddaughter, Anna Marie Batchelder, two brothers, Hans and Ludvig Oppedal and one sister, Astrid Oppedal.
