WESTRUM

Sidney Westrum, 79, Stratford Care Center, died Feb. 18, 1983, at the center. He was born Aug. 30, 1903, in Stratford to Nels Westrum and Caroline Bocklund. On Nov. 14, 1935, he married Geraldine Speck at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

He farmed in the Stratford area until his retirement in 1964. He was a charter member of the Stratford Lions Club and the Stratford Isaac Walton League, served on the Stratford school board and Stratford Development Corporation, was a member of the Stratford First Baptist Church, Hamilton County Historical Society, and was a life member of the Swedish-American Museum.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine of Stratford; two daughters, Arlene Chally of Stratford and Shirley Mattson of Cedar Falls; a brother, Marvin of Longmont, Colo., six grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Stratford First Baptist Church, the Rev. Robert Haring officiating. Burial will be in the South Marion Cemetery. Visitation at Hanson-Stark-Welin Funeral Home is Sunday from 5 to 9 p.m. Memorials may be given to the church.
