Died at her home in our city, Friday morning at 3:45, little Vernice Swanson, aged one year, ten months and five days.

Ah, Oh, when aweary, may we be so blest, And sink like the innocent child to rest, And feel ourselves clasped to the infinite breast.

Thus over the happy home the shadow of a little grave has fallen; and as another has said, it is wonderful how long a shadow a little grave can throw.

This beautiful baby's life was so precious, so frought with blessing to her parents that she seemed a flower of paradise permitted to bloom for a brief season by their side, then recalled to natures skies, leaving the earth road for them dark and lonely indeed.

And when the messenger came from the unseen lands to claim the dainty darling as his own:

She only crossed her little hands, she only looked more meek and fair. We parted back her silken hair, we wove the roses around her brow, white buds, the summers drifted snow, wrapt her from head to foot in flowers, and thus she went out of this world of ours.

The remains were interred in the Oakwood Cemetery Sunday afternoon by the hands that had tried to make her young life happy. Rev. O.R. Palm, assisted by Mrs. Hannah Fallein, conducted the service.

[daughter of Oscar & Emma Poulson Swanson]
