Robert Dean Stone, age 63, of 1127 Carroll Street in Boone, Iowa, died at his home on August 10, 2007. His body has been cremated and graveside services will be Wednesday, August 15, 2007, at 3:00 p.m. at the South Marion Cemetery, southeast of Stratford, with Rev. Andrea Kraushaar officiating. Burial of his cremains will follow the service. Following the graveside service, family and friends are invited to the Stone residence, 1127 Carroll Street, to continue celebrating Robert’s life with fellowship, food, and refreshments. Robert was born on March 16, 1944, in Ames, the son of Richard and Opal (Shanklin) Stone. He attended grade school in Madrid and Maxwell and graduated from Maxwell High School in 1963. On October 14, 1967, Robert married Rosalyn Eckstein in Stratford. For 43 years, Robert was employed at Quinn Machine and Foundry, first working in the foundry and later in the pattern shop. He retired December 1, 2006. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Loyal Order of Moose #104. For several years, he served at the Iowa National Guard in Boone. Robert enjoyed fishing, traveling, grandchildren, friends, family, and pets. He is survived by his wife, Rosalyn of Boone; two daughters, Jonna Wilaby of Boone and Merridth Salter and husband Shane of Portland, Oregon; two sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Eckstein-Weber of Catonsville, Maryland, and Beulah Stone-Baldus (Maurice) of Boone; and five grandchildren, Taylor and Erik Wilaby, Akela Rose, Kaili Moon, and Zoey Mary Kate Salter. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Richard and Jerry Stone. Memorials may be given to the family to be used at their discretion. Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone is in charge of arrangements.
