Juanita Rose, 78, of Stratford, died Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

Juanita Kay Miller, daughter of Ernest and Ella [Anderson] Miller was born March 16, 1940 in Ogden, Iowa. She graduated from Pilot Mound School in 1958. Juanita started working as dental assistant in Stratford where she met John Rose, the love of her life. After only a few months of dating, John and Juanita were married on June 4, 1961 at the Pilot Mound Methodist Church. They had three children, Carrie, Kevin and Lorna. As well as being a homemaker, Juanita worked with her husband John in the family gas business until their retirement in 2000. She was also a dietary aid at the Stratford Care Center for many years.

Juanita loved watching her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up, as well as attending their various activities. She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Stratford. The past few years Juanita was a member of the “Widow’s Club” with a group of ladies in Stratford. They would get together often and play dominos. She said she wasn’t the best player but always had fun.

Her husband John, faithful furry companion Happy, her parents, Brother Bob Miller, brother –in-law Richard Stemmerman preceded her in death. Juanita leaves behind her loving children Carrie (Kevin) Farley of Boone, IA, Kevin (Tricia) Rose of Stratford, IA, and Lorna (John) Chapman of Clermont , IA; her furry companion Bindy; nine grandchildren who meant the world to her, Jon Farley, Joel (Jessica) Farley, Dylan (Sheanelle) Rose, Makenzie Rose, Carmen (Bryan) Franklin, Maria (JaCorey) Calhoun, Olivia Chapman, Audrey Chapman and Aaron Chapman and four great-grandchildren Cale Farley, Aidan and Ava Franklin and Mia Williams; two brothers Doyle (Vickie) Miller and Dale (Cheryl) Miller, two sister-in-law’s, Luella Miller and Beverly Stemmerman and numerous nieces and nephews. Juanita was a wonderful loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt that will truly be missed each and every day.

Funeral services for Juanita will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, December 14, 2018 at Calvary United Methodist Church in Stratford with Pastor Gina Spohnheimer and Pastor Fredrick Killian officiating. Interment was in the South Marion Cemetery south of Stratford.
