Obituary
Mrs. Alfred Polson

Funeral services for Mrs. Alfred Polson were held in Calvary Methodist church here Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. J.G. Waterman was in charge and used for his text words found in Psalms 31:3: "Into they hands I commit my spirit. Thou hast redeemed me, O Lord, God of Truth." Miss Minnie Williams and Mrs. E.J. Bergquist sang "The Touch of His Hand on Mine" and "Under His Wing." The accompaniments were played by Mrs. Ronald Bell.

Interment was in the South Marion cemetery. The pallbearers were L.R. Anderson, Justin Anderson, L.F. Anderson, Rudy Andrews. J.R. Gustafson, G.O. Johnson.

Anna Louise Polson was born in Hardin township, Webster county, near Stratford, Aug. 31, 1860, and died Nov. 8, 1944, in Portland, Ore., at the age of 84 years, 2 months, 8 days.

A daughter of Charley and Anna Johnson who were early pioneers of this community, she was reared and grew to womanhood here and on Feb. 28, 1888, was united in marriage to Alfred Polson, who died in 1941. To this union was born two daughters, Mrs. Vera Hubner, who preceded her mother in death and Mrs. Georgette Shaeffer of Des Moines.

Besides her daughter Mrs. Shaeffer, she is survived by one grandson, Cpt. Leo Hubner, now with the armed forces overseas, one granddaughter, Mrs. Audrey Shambaugh of Des Moines, three great grandchildren, Arzelle and Bonnie Shambaugh of Des Moines and Jeffrey Lee Hubner of Davenport. Three sisters also survive: Mrs. Josie Anderson of Stratford, Mrs. Mary Eckstein of Boone and Mrs. Hattie Anderson of Denver, Colo., as well as nieces and nephews and a host of friends and acquaintances.
