Byron J. Travis Wille, 89, Williams, died Monday, Sept. 12, 2005 at the Hamilton County Hospital in Webster City. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Williams with burial in the Williams Cemetery at a later date. There will be a flag presentation by the Williams American Legion Post #633. Visitation will be 4-8p.m. Wednesday at the Surls Funeral Chapel in Williams.

Byron Joe Travis Wille was born on Oct. 8, 1915 in Webster City, the son of George C. and Freda (Wille) Travis. He graduated from Williams High School in 1934. He attended Civilian Conservation Corps in Boone and Red Oak. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On Aug. 2, 1947, he was united in marriage with Evelyn H. Challe in Jewell. He had worked as a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in January 1977. Byron was a member of the United Methodist Church in Williams, Williams American Legion Post #633, Disabled American Veterans, Rural Carriers Association, past member of the Williams Lions Club and a former Boy Scout Troop leader.

Mr. Wille is survived by his wife, Evelyn of Williams; two daughters, Deborah A. Lancaster of Grapevine, Texas, and Barbara J. Lauthen and her husband Mark of Atlantic, a son, Joe E. Wille and wife Lori of Williams; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
