Dies on 95th Birthday

Mrs. Betty Olson, formerly of the Stanhope-Stratford community, died Saturday evening on her 95th birthday at Owen, Wis. at the home of her son, Floyd.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Foster funeral home in Webster City with the Rev. H.H. Schauland officiating and with burial in South Marion cemetery near Stratford.

Mrs. Olson is survived by one son, Floyd; three daughters, Mrs. Eli Neese of Webster City, Mrs. James R. Hogan of Omaha and Mrs. Mable Farr of Rockford, Ill.; one step-son, Harry Olson.

OBITUARY

BETTY HANSON OLSON

Betty Hanson Olson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hans Hanson was born January 16, 1858 in Denmark, Sweden and passed away Saturday, January 16, at Owen, Wisconsin at the age of 96 years.

When she was eight years old she came to the United States with her parents. They resided at Boone, Iowa for seven years and then moved to Des Moines where she was confirmed in the Lutheran church.

On March 13, 1880, she was united in marriage to John Olson of Boone, Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. Olson farmed near Stanhope for a number of years. Her husband preceded her in death February 27, 1937. After his death she made her home for fourteen years with her daughter, Mrs. Roy Hogan of Omaha, Nebraska. She then came to Webster City where she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Eli Neese for seven months. During the past two years she had made her home with her son, Floyd Olson of Owen, Wisconsin.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Olson was also preceded in death by two sons and one daughter, Leonard Olson, Frederick Olson and Mrs. Anna Anderson, her parents, two brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by three daughters and one son, Mrs. Eli Neese of Webster City, Mrs. Roy Hogan of Omaha, Nebraska, Mrs. Mabel Farr of Lones Park, Ill., and Floyd Olson of Owen, Wisconsin and one adopted grandson, Harry Olson of Blue Earth, Minn. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 21, 1954 at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. H.H. Schauland officiating. Ivan Hutson sang "In the Garden" and "My God I Love" accompanied by Mrs. W.C. Fastenow at the organ. Burial was made in the South Marion cemetery near Stratford, Iowa. Pallbearers were Virgil Neese, Wayne Neese, Kenneth Neese, Harvey Hoshaw, Roy Bergman and Gene Sund. - Contributed.
