OBITUARY
Mrs. Alice S. Olson

Alice Sophia Hanson, daughter of John and Carrie Hanson, was born at Des Moines, Iowa, Jan. 19, 1885, and died at her home in Stratford on June 25, 1957, at the age of 72 years, 5 months and 6 days.

She was united in marriage to Frederick Emanuel Olson on March 8, 1911, at Des Moines. To this union was born one daughter. She was baptized when an infant. She was a member of the Swedish Mission Church in Des Moines until her marriage when she joined the Methodist church.

She graduated as a registered nurse from the Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago in 1908 and served in her profession until her marriage in 1911 when she moved with her husband to the farm southeast of Stratford. This remained her home until 1947 when the family moved to Boone, Iowa. In 1941 she moved again to Stratford and remained in this vicinity until her death.

She was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers who died in infancy, her parents and her husband. Mr. Olson passed away in October of 1953.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Loren (Harriett) Hinds, one granddaughter, Jeryl Lorenda Hinds, and one sister, Mrs. Albert Johnson of Williams, Iowa, several nieces and nephews, and many friends. Her spirit has returned to her Father.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Calvary Methodist Church, with the Rev. Robert H. Ruppert officiating. Two hymns were sung by Mrs. Vincel Crim. Following the ceremony, the remains were escorted to the South Marion Cemetery for interment. The pallbearers were: John Knuth, Weldon Sonksen, Wilhelm Carlson, Fabian Peterson, Franklin Rose and Edgar Crim.

The Hanson Funeral Home was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
