April 1974Funeral services for Ellen C. Nelson, 88, Stratford, were held Monday, April 1. Rev. Ellis Andrews conducted the 2:00 pm services in the South Marion United Methodist Church, Stratford. Interment was in the South Marion Cemetery. Arrangements were completed by Hanson-Stark-Welin, Funeral Home, Stratford.
Mrs. Nelson passed away Thursday morning, March 28, at Ledges Manor, in Boone. She had been a resident there for 5 years.
She was born August 13, 1885 in Sweden, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Swen (Caroline) Peterson.
On August 25, 1903 she married Edward Lewis Nelson at Boone.
She was a member of the South Marion United Methodist Church, the Women's Society of Christian Service, and the Ever-Welcome class at the church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Edna Sealine, Woodburn; Mrs. Verna Anderson, Stratford; one son, Norman Nelson, Stratford; 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
