Leo James Mogensen, 53, Fort Dodge, Iowa, a residential care patient, died December 30, 1998 at Trinity Regional Hospital.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, January 8, 1999 at 1:30 p.m. at the Foster Funeral Home with Rev. James Forstrom of Lakeville, MN. officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service. Burial will be in the South Marion Cemetery at Stratford, Iowa. The body was cremated.

Leo James Mogensen, son of Gottlieb and Mabel Erickson Mogensen, was born January 13, 1945. He attended South Hamilton Schools in Jewell. After high school, he entered the Army as a baker with the tour of duty in the United States and Italy. However, the beginning of mental illness began to take its toll and at the age of 26, he started living in a series of county residential care facilities in Iowa with extended stays in Mason City, Fort Dodge and Webster City. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and bowling.

Survivors are three sisters, Corliss Forstrom, Lakeville, MN., Berneta Balsley of Webster City, Iowa, and Susan Ackerman of Littleton, CO.; and a brother, Jon Mogensen of Rockwell City, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
