Mabel Mogensen, 89, Webster City, died Aug. 18, 1995, at Crestview Manor Care Center in Webster City. A celebration of life service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Foster Funeral Home in Webster City, with Rev. James Forstrom officiating. Burial will be at South Marion Cemetery, southeast of Stratford. Visitation will be at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Sunday until time of service.

Mabel Erickson, daughter of John and Hattie Gustafson Erickson, was born April 5, 1906, on a farm south of Stanhope. She attended a rural school in that area. In 1925, she graduated from Stanhope High School. She attended a school for massage therapy in Missouri and was employed in Cedar Rapids following graduation. On May 5, 1934 she married Gottlieb Mogensen at Stanhope. The couple farmed south of Stanhope until her husband died in 1984. She moved to Webster City and to Crestview Apartments in 1990. She then resided at Crestview Manor.

She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Corliss and James Forstrom, Lakeville, Minn., Berneta and Roger Balsley, Webster City, Susan Akerman [Ackerman in Gottlieb's obit], Denver, Colo; sons and daughter-in-law, Leo Mogensen of Webster City, Jon and Leslee Mogensen, Rockwell City; six grandchildren Darren and Grant Balsley, Mark Forstrom and Shannon Forstrom, Mark Mogensen and Paul Mogensen; great-grandchildren, Arrin Balsley, Alexis Balsley and Brenda Forstrom; sister Mildred Crim, Boone; sister-in-law Myrtle Erickson, Stanhope. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother Ernest Erickson.
