Services held for Lester Johnson

Funeral services for Lester R. Johnson, 65, Stratford, were held Tuesday, Feb. 24. Rev. Ellis Andrews conducted the services at the South Marion Methodist Church, Stratford, Interment was in the South Marion Cemetery. Arrangements were completed by Stark, Welin Funeral Home.

Mr. Johnson passed away in his home on Saturday, Feb. 21.

During the service Mrs. Ardell Phipps presented vocal selections accompanied by Mrs. Margaret Crim. The pall bearers were Charles Crim, Severt Crim, Edgar Crim, Halbert Crim, Clarence Johnson and Elmer Erickson.

Mr. Johnson was born Jan. 17, 1911 in Stratford, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew E. [Carrie Norman] Johnson. On March 7, 1943, he married Irene Patterson in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. B.E. Patterson, Stratford. The couple farmed near Stratford their entire life.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother and two sisters who died in infancy.

Survivors include his wife, Irene; three sons, Marlin, Paul and Larry, all of Stratford; one daughter, Mrs. Michael Payne, Ames; a granddaughter, Andrea Leslie Payne; a brother, Glen, Stratford; and two sisters, Mrs. Roy (Velva) Wanlund, Hazel Crest, and Mrs. Charles (Wyona) Magnuson, Boone.
