Mrs. Johnson Dies at 84

STRATFORD - Mrs. Alice M. Johnson, 84, a longtime resident of the Stratford community, died suddenly of a heart attack suffered at the Johnson farm home near the South Marion church Thursday morning.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at the South Marion Methodist Church with the Rev. George Brighton officiating and with burial in South Marion Cemetery, the Stark-Welin Funeral Home in charge. The body will lie in state at the church from noon until a family service at 3 p.m.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Elmo (Elsie) Westrum of Stratford; two sons, Dr. Clyde Johnson, Lennox, S.D., and Vernon Johnson, Stratford; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie; a daughter, Violet; her parents; one sister and three brothers.

She was born south of Stratford on a farm and was reared and educated in the Stratford community. She was a lifelong member of the South Marion church.

Mrs. Alice M. Johnson, 84, died at the farm home of her son, Clyde V. Johnson, rural route, Stratford, early this Thursday morning, Jan. 4. She had recently arrived in Stratford from South Dakota.

Survivors include 2 sons, Clyde V. Johnson and Vernon L. Johnson of Stratford; a daughter, Mrs. Elmo Westrum of Stratford; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are being tentatively planned for Saturday, Jan. 6, at the South Marion Church.
