CHARLEY G. JOHNSON SUCCUMBED IN COUNTY HOSPITAL MONDAY

Last rites were held in Calvary Methodist church yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock for Charley G. Johnson, 82, who died early on Monday in the county hospital in Webster City. He was stricken with paralysis a week before his death which left him partially paralyzed and from which he died not recover his usual faculties.

He is survived by several sisters and other relatives. Sympathy is express to the bereaved.

Charles G. Johnson

Charles G. Johnson, son of Charles and Anna [Moling] Johnson, was born in Webster county near Stratford, March 14, 1863 and died in the county hospital in Webster City on Aug. 7, 1944, at the age of 81 years, 4 months, 24 days.

A week before his death he was suddenly stricken with a heart attack. He lingered through the week but did not regain any of his lost strength. He leaves to mourn his death four sisters who are: Mrs. Mary Eckstein and Mrs. Louise Poulson of Boone, Mrs. Hattie Andrews of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Josie Anderson of Stratford. Several nieces and nephews and other relatives also survive as well as many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 9, in Calvary Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. J.G. Waterman. A quartette composed of Miss Minnie Williams, Mrs. Elmer Bergquist, A.T. Johnson and Sam Swedlund sang three appropriate hymns, Miss Marjorie Rierson playing the accompaniments. Interment was in the South Marion cemetery and the following were pallbearers: Franklin Rose, James Bricker, Ben Lundquist, Floyd Ferlen, Peter Anderson and Nels Sandell.
