STRATFORD - Elsa M. Johnson, 80, a longtime resident of the Stratford community, died Thursday at the Hamilton County hospital. She had been residing at Crestview Manor in Webster City.

Funeral services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Stratford Lutheran church with burial in the South Marion cemetery.

Friends may start calling at the Hanson-Stark-Welin Funeral home Sunday from 3 to 9 p.m. and on Monday from 9 to 11 when the body will be taken to the Stratford Lutheran church.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Herbert (Arlene) Bergman, Stratford; one son, Orland Johnson, Simi Valley, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Helga Swanson, Mrs. Marie Fostberg, both of Stratford, Miss Thyra Anderson of Jewell, nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl, who died in 1968; two sons; Oren and Virgil; one grandson, Steven Johnson, one brother, Erick Anderson.

She was born Feb. 15, 1895 in Sweden, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Axel [Hedda Andersdotter] Anderson. On March 6, 1918 she was married to Carl Johnson at Boone.
