Johnson Rites On Thursday

STRATFORD - Funeral services will be held Thursday for Alfred Charles Johnson, 82, widely known Stratford resident who died yesterday at the Hamilton County Hospital. He had been in failing health for several months following a heart attack and he suffered a relapse several days ago.

A prayer service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Jackson Funeral Home followed by services at 2 o'clock at the Lutheran church. Rev. F.W. Hanson will officiate and burial will be in South Marion Cemetery.

Mr. Johnson was born in Sweden and came to this country when he was 16 years old. He engaged in farming for many years, operating a farm east of Stratford until his wife's death when he retired. He had since been making his home with his son, Julius, in Stratford.

He is survived by his son and one daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Ochanpaugh of Osceola. Also surviving are six grandchildren.

A member of the Lutheran church, he was a longtime member of the church board and active in church activities.

Born at Gällaryd, Jönköping, Sweden, son of Sven Johan Johansson and Lena Cajsa Jonasdotter.
