Services held for Mrs. John Hamilton, 73

Mrs. John Hamilton, 73, of Fort Dodge and a former Stratford resident, passed away at the Mercy Hospital in Fort Dodge on Wednesday, August 7. Funeral services were held for her on Saturday, August 10 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Paul Heath officiating. Burial was in the South Marion Cemetery.

Alna Augusta Gabrielson, daughter of Charles J. and Emma Christine [Andersdotter] Gabrielson, was born August 12, 1889, at Stratford, Iowa, and was reared and educated in the Stratford community.

She was united in marriage March 23, 1910 to Emil Erickson, and the couple farmed for many years in the Stanhope community. Following the death of her husband, October 11, 1939, Mrs. Erickson moved to Fort Dodge to make her home.

She was united in marriage at Fort Dodge June 15, 1942, to John Hamilton, and they had since resided at Fort Dodge.

She is survived by her husband; three step-children, Mrs. Kenneth Mosher, Clarion; Richard Hamilton, Des Moines; and Robert Hamilton, California; four grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Eric Anderson, Des Moines, and Mrs. Claude McDermott, Douglas, Wyoming; and also several nieces and nephews including Chauncey McDermott who was reared in the Erickson home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and four sisters.

She was baptized in the Swedish Mission Church south of Stratford as a young child.

Born Aug. 12, 1889 at Stratford, Iowa and died Aug. 8, 1963 at Mercy Hospital in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Services held at Foster's Funeral Home on Aug. 10, 1963 with Rev. Paul Heath officiating. Burial in South Marion Cemetery. Daughter of Charles E. Gabrielson and Emma Anderson.
