Hattie Fohlin, 81
Dies Wednesday a.m.

Hattie Fohlin, former resident of the Stratford Community, died early Wednesday morning, May 16, at Madrid, Iowa, where she had been a patient of the Lutheran Home for some time. She was born in Sweden, March 10, 1881. She has been suffering from a lingering illness. Her husband was the late Andrew J. Fohlin, who with on son, Arthur Fohlin of Dayton, preceded her in death. Her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Helen Fohlin is a teacher in the Dayton Schools. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time, with Hanson Funeral Home at Stratford.

Obituary of Mrs. Hattie Fohlin, 81

Mrs. Hattie Fohlin, daughter of Carl and Charlotte Anderson, was born in Sweden March 10, 1881, baptized as an infant and passed away at the Iowa Lutheran Home of Madrid on May 16, 1962, having reached the age of 81 years, 2 months and five days. Her mother passed away while Hattie was still a small child. At the age of 11 years she came to America with her father and made her home with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J.P. Newman. She grew to womanhood in the Swede Bend community and was married to A.J. Fohlin in 1908.

To this union two children were born, Hazel and Arthur. She became a member of the Stratford Lutheran Church in 1948 and remained faithful till her death. She was preceded in death by her husband and two children. She leaves to mourn her death several relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at the Stratford Lutheran Church, on Friday, May 18, with Pastor Robert W. Carlson officiating.

Two songs, "Nearer My God To Thee" and one in Swedish, "Children Of The Heavenly Father," were sung by Mrs. Ardelle Larson, accompanied by Mrs. Lloyd Angstrom.

Casket bearers were Harold Benson, Paul Berglund, Earl Swedlund, Carlos Shoberg, Eldon Westrum and Marvin Vinchattle.

Interment was held in South Marion Cemetery. Arrangements were by Hanson Funeral Home, Stratford.
