Waldon Erickson, 84, formerly of Stratford, Iowa passed away at the Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone on Sunday afternoon, June 29, 1997 due to congestive heart failure. He had been a resident of the Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone since January of 1993.

He was born on December 13, 1912 in Stratford, Iowa the son of Alfred and Edith (Carlson) Erickson.

Waldon attended school at the Iowa School for the Deaf in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He farmed in the Stratford area until 1981 when he retired.

He was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church for the Deaf, meeting at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boone.

He enjoyed farming and doing field work and developed wood working skills at school.

His parents, a twin brother, Eldon, in infancy, a brother, Roland, and a sister, Blanche Muench, preceded him in death.

Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Norman and Margaret Erickson of Stratford, Iowa, a sister and brother-in-law, Deloris and Rev. David Danielson of Portland, Oregon, nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Wednesday afternoon, July 2, 1997 at 1:30 p.m. at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone with Pastor Darrel Kois officiating.

Interment will be in South Marion Cemetery south of Stratford, Iowa.

Friends may call at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.

Stark-Welin Funeral Directors in Boone is in charge of arrangements.
