Elmer Oscar Erickson, the son of Oscar E. and Charlotte (Gustafson) Erickson, was born near Stanhope and was reared and educated there. He was united in marriage to Bernadine Knaub February 3, 1937, at Boone. The couple farmed near Stanhope until 1950, when they moved to a farm in the Bode area. In 1965, they moved to a farm east of Humboldt, where he farmed until retiring in 1982 and moving to Humboldt.

Mr. Erickson was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church of Humboldt, the Izaak Walton League and was a 52-year member of the Modern Woodman of America. He died on the morning of July 12 at the Trinity Regional Hospital at Fort Dodge. He was 79 years of age.

Survivors include his wife, Bernadine; daughters, Sandra Schade of Thor and Karla Jensen of Aurora, Colorado; grandchildren, Sue Ann Dencklau, Debora Ruberg and Eric Shade; great-grandchildren, Cassandra Ruberg and Jerod Dencklau, all of Thor; sister, Edna May Geiger of Walnut Creek, California; and brother, George Erickson of Stratford, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers and sisters.
