Duane Erickson, 62, of the Stratford Care Center passed away at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames on Saturday, April 17, 1993 following a lengthy illness.

Services were held Tuesday, April 20, 1993 at the Calvary United Methodist Church in Stratford with Rev. Sue-Ellen Sherman officiating. The Masonic Service was given by Jim Cook. Interment was in the South Marion Cemetery south of Stratford.

He was born November 1, 1930 near Stratford, the first of two sons of Roland D. and Wilma (Shoberg) Erickson. Duane was a 1950 graduate of Stratford High School.

On September 30, 1950 he married Lola Mae Banford at Stratford. They made their home in Boone and later moved to Des Moines where they raised their two daughters. For 23 years Duane worked in the maintenance department as a plumber and pipe fitter for Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. in Des Moines, Iowa before retiring in 1991.

He was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Stratford, Scottish Rite Fraternal organization, Masonic Order Acanthus Lodge #236 of Urbandale, and the United Rubber Workers of Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his father. Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law Duanna and Jim McCreery of Omaha, Nebraska; Lee Ann Hutchinson of Ft. Worth, Texas; mother and step-father Wilma and LeRoy Carnell of Stratford; one brother and sister-in-law Ivyl D. and Mary Erickson of Simi Valley, California; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.

The Stark-Welin Funeral Home of Stratford was in charge of arrangements.
