Carl E. Erickson, 85, Walnut Creek, Calif., a former Stanhope area resident, died March 29, 1990, at Joe Muir Hospital, Walnut Creek. Services were held Tuesday, April 3, at 1:30 p.m. at South Marion Church southeast of Stratford with the Rev. Willis Grant officiating. Burial was in South Marion Cemetery. The Foster Funeral Home, Webster City, was in charge of arrangements.

Carl Edward Erickson, son of Oscar and Clara Jacobson Erickson, was born Dec. 7, 1904 on a farm south of Stanhope.

He attended rural schools and later farmed south of Stanhope.

In 1947 he moved to California where he worked as a weatherstripping contractor.

He is surivived by his brothers, George, Stratford, and Elmer, Humboldt; sister, Edna May (Mrs. Harold) Geiger, Walnut Creek; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.

He was a member of Masonic Acorn Lodge No. 601 of Stratford, Hope Chapter No. 88 and the Modern Woodmen of America.
