JEWELL - Clarence Hauge, 84, a former Jewell resident who had been residing the past three years in an Independence, Iowa, care center, died Friday night at the care center.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the White Funeral home in Independence. At 3:30 p.m., graveside services will be held at Evergreen cemetery at Jewell, with the Rev. Hugo Schwartz, pastor of the Immanual Lutheran church at Independence, officiating.

Clarence Hauge was born Oct. 7, 1894 at Ruthven, Iowa, the son of Peter and Gertrude Hauge.

He worked for many years as a farmer and construction worker in the Jewell community. For the past 18 years he had resided in the Independence and Winthrop, Iowa, vicinity.

He is survived by one son, Gaylord Hauge of Jewell; two daughters, Mrs. Elton (Ethel) Brill of Kamrar and Mrs. Dean (Lois) Eckley of Boone; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
