James Samuel Crane

Died, at his home, two miles southwest of Homer, Wednesday, December 27th, 1893, Mr. James Samuel Crane. He was born October 14th, 1833,in Esser County, York State. His parents moved to Illinois when hew was a child of three years. At the age of 18 he was converted to God and has from that time until the time of his death been a true Christian. In 1850, he moved to Iowa and was married to Mary Jane Eller. Ten chldren have been born to them, which are all living but one daughter who died five years ago. He leaves a wife, three sons and six daughters to mourn his loss; but weep not as those who have no hope, for we know he is at peace with his God. His sickness was short, only lasting a few days. He was a member of the Missouri Bend U. B. Church. He was buried in the Webster City Cemetary, Saturday December 30, 1893. Funeral sermon by Rev. Hicks of Webster City.
