Funeral services for Nels P. Peterson, 80, were held Monday at the Beck Funeral Home and Bethesda Lutheran church, with the Rev. I. B. Sorensen officiating. L. Clifford Pierson, Kenneth Lierson, Joseph Christiansen, Robert P. Ray, Amos Christiansen, and Daniel Stalker served as pallbearers. Burial was made at Evergreen cemetery in Jewell.

Mr. Peterson died Thursday of last week at the Hamilton County Public Hospital at Webster City where he had been a patient for 11 days. Death attributed to complications resulting from old age.

Nels Peter Peterson, son of Nels and Gina Peterson, was born near Horsens, Denmark on August 5, 1873 and passed away on May 27, 1954 at the age of 80 years, 9 months, and 22 days.

He came to the United States in 1879, settling in this community where he spent the remainder of his life.

He was married to Betty Brock on Jan 7, 1897. She preceded him in death in 1927. In 1930, he married Agnes Kraght, who survives.

Other survivors included three stepchildren, Hans Brock, Mrs Tom Reade, and Edward Brock;seven brothers and sisters, Laurence of Colona, Illinois, Christopher of Albert Lea, Minnesota, Julianna Peterson of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Mrs. Carrie Christianson of Albert Lea Minnesota, Mrs Betty Madson of Phoenix, Arizona, Mrs. Mary Shaw of Fairmont, Minnesota, and Sena Peterson of Jewell.

Mr. Peterson, a retired farmer, was a member of Bethesda Lutheran church.
