Verna Weieneth, 92, of Webster City, died Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Southfield Wellness Community. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at First Congregational U.C.C. with Reverend Craig Blaufuss officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 23, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the church.

Verna Elaine Gantenbein, daughter of Andrew and Grace Meyers Gantenbein, was born September 18, 1925 in Fayette County. Verna graduated from West Central High School of Maynard. She received her two year Teaching certificate from Coe College and her Bachelors Degree in Teaching from Drake University in 1967. She married Charles Weieneth on July 18, 1948 at the Presbyterian Church in Maynard. Verna taught in Ottumwa and Northwood before moving to Webster City where she was a kindergarten teacher for 38 years with the Webster City School System.

Verna is survived by her children, Rene (Joe) Didio of Webster City, Robert (Sandi) Weieneth of Webster City, David (Liz) Weieneth of Des Moines; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one on the way.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charlie in 2009, granddaughter, Abigail Weieneth and sister, Ruth Jenkins.

Verna was a member of First Congregational U.C.C., Chi Omega Sorority and a 50 year member of the P.E.O.

Memorials may be directed to the Kendall Young Library, First Congregational U.C.C. or the Hamilton County Youth and Family Services in memory of Verna.
