Maris M. Moberly, 82, of Webster City, died Thursday, October 21, 2004 at the Southfield Wellness Community. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, with Rev. John Flaherty, celebrant. Burial will be in the Cass Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 5-8 p.m. Sunday and prior to the service on Monday. Graveside military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post # 191. Foster Funeral and Cremation Center is in charge of arrangements.

Maris Merwyn Moberly, son of Ernest and Nellie Miller Moberly, was born August 15, 1922 on a farm east of Webster City. He attended rural schools in that area. In 1940, he graduated from Lincoln High at Webster City. During W.W. II, he served with the U.S. Army in a transportation battalion in the China, Burma and India Theatres of Action. On November 18, 1948, he married Elizabeth (Bettye) Ertl at Fort Dodge. The couple resided at Webster City. He was a self-employed mechanic and farmed east of Webster City. He retired in 1984.

Mr. Moberly is survived by his wife, Bettye; daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Jim Burnett of Webster City; Pat and Mel Wilson of Story City; Penny Moberly of Elkhart; Paris and Don McNelly of Webster City; sons and daughter-in-law, Paul Moberly of Los Angeles, Ca.; Price and Kay Moberly of Williams; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandsons; half brothers, Vern and Ralph Moberly, both of West Townsend, Vt.; Kenn Moberly of South Wardsboro, Vt.; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Brandon Joseph Burnett; sister, Avis Moberly; step-father, George Arends and step-mother, Lilly Moberly.

He was a member of the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, American Legion Post # 191, Moose Family Center, Elks Lodge and the Birthday Club. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.
