Ringstad, Gary Dean (1936-2002)

Gary Ringstad, age 66, of Webster City, died of a subdural hematoma on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday Oct. 26 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Webster City with Rev. John Grebner to officiate. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Friday evening at Becker Funeral Home in Jewell. Memorials may be sent to Charlene Ringstad, 2549 Briggs Woods Rd. in Webster City.

Gary Dean Ringstad was born Sept. 4, 1936 in Jewell to Ray Orville and May Elizabeth (Nelson) Ringstad. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell. Gary was a 1954 graduate of Jewell High School. He had worked for Ahrens and Nelson Veterinarians, Land O'Lakes, Cuddy Farms and was currently employed by Ag Forte and Koehnk and Feldman Veterinarians. Gary had also owned and operated Gary's Horse and Rider Shoppe in Jewell. On Aug. 13, 1994, Gary married Charlene Barquist Hill in Webster City in a garden ceremony at their home on Betsy Lane. Gary was a member of the Iowa Poultry Association and the Iowa Turkey Federation, having served as president. He was a volunteer with the Jewell Fire and Rescue Department. Gary enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Gary is survived by his wife, Charlene of Webster City, and children, Kirk (Linda) Ringstad of Castle Rock, Colorado, Craig Ringstad of Bloomington, Minnesota, Lynette Ringstad of Atlanta, Georgia, Todd (Jeanie) Hill of Ellsworth, Tami Hill of Clarion and Taylor (Megan) Hill of Stanhope, five grandchildren, Jacob Ringstad, Seth Ringstad, Adam Ringstad, Brittany Hill, Brooklyn Hill, a brother, Roger Ringstad of Altoona and nieces and nephews. His parents, a son, Jeffrey, a sister Ava Nell, a brother, Ronald Ringstad, two uncles, Vernon and Cliff Ringstad, preceded him in death.
