Jared Ringstad, 14, Jewell, died Aug. 29, 1996 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell, with Rev. Tim Nappe officiating. Burial followed at Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell. Becker Funeral Home in Jewell was in charge of arrangements.

Jared Scott Ringstad, son of Scott and Ann Marie Enderson Ringstad, was born June 30, 1982 in Ames. He was a lifelong resident of Jewell. He was a student at South Hamilton High School and was active in many sports including football, basketball, track and baseball. He also practiced Tae Kwon Do with Emery Martial Arts and was an avid golfer at the Jewell Golf and Country Club. He was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his parents, Ann and Scott Ringstad, Jewell; brothers, Brett and Matthew Ringstad, Jewell; grandparents, Lee Ann and Ronald Ringstad, Jewell, Janet and Gary Handeland, Stanhope; great-grandparents, May and Ray Ringstad, Webster City, and Menora Durby, Story City; aunts and uncles, Kris and Mike Schewene, Kelly and Dawn Ringstad, Jill and Dave Anderson, and Scott and Carlene Enderson. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Harold Enderson.

A memorial fund has been established and gifts may be sent to the Ringstad home at 541 Deckor St., Jewell, 50130.
