Funeral services for Curtis O. Eide, 64, longtime Webster City resident, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. Don Basye officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery where flagfolding ceremonies will be conducted by the American Legion Post 191.

Mr. Eide died Wednesday morning at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines where he had been the past week. He had been in ill health the past six years.

Curtis O. Eide, son of John and Cleo Carr Eide, was born Jan. 16, 1918, on a farm near Alden. He moved with his family to Hayward, Wis., where they resided for two years before moving to a farm near Ellsworth.

The family moved to another farm in the Rose Grove community and he received his education in the Rose Grove and Ellsworth area. The family later moved to Fort Dodge before moving to Webster City in 1934.

He entered the U.S. Army and served in the European war theatre during World War II. Following his discharge he returned to Webster City.

He was married Sept. 11, 1947, to Dorothy McIntire, and the couple made their home in Webster City where Mr. Eide was engaged in the painting trade.

He is survived by his wife; six sons and two daughters, Jim Eide of Webster City, Gaylord Eide of Columbus, Ga., Dan Eide of Colo, Iowa, Orvie Eide and Dennis Eide, both of Webster City, Doug Eide, at home, Mrs. Richard C. (Elaine) Brown of Austin, Minn., and Mrs. Richard M. (Linda) Wagner of Duncombe; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.
