Obituary for Kenneth P. Buck
Kenneth Paul Buck was born March 21, 1926 to Theodore and Anna Marie (Heidenreich) Buck in Kankakee, Illinois. He joined the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged with the rank of Ship’s Cook Second Class in 1946. During his time in the Navy, Kenneth met the love of his life, Edith Dickerson. Kenneth and Edith were married December 8, 1945 in Washington D.C. He loved to work on cars, which helped in his career as a fleet manager for the United States Postal Service, from where he retired. Kenneth was a member of the Jewell Lion’s Club and enjoyed camping with Edith and family, taking care of their dog, and spending winters in the towns of Donna and McAllen, Texas.
Kenneth died at 90 years of age on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Green Hills Health Care Center in Ames.
Kenneth is survived by his grandchildren, Tina (Wayne) Lynn, Jennifer Buck, Anthony (Kristi) Buck and Felicia Buck (fiancé Randall Barrett); his great-grandchildren, Ashley Witter, Shelby Lynn, Khloe Buck and Braxton Buck; two great great-grandsons, Christopher Jorgesen and Eli Jorgesen; his daughters-in-law, Deb Buck of Huntsville, Ala., and Lori Peterson Buck of Jewell; his sister, Fern (John) Reitmeyer; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith, in 2012; his sons, Paul Buck and Charles Buck; his brother, Don Buck; and his sister-in-law, Marie Buck.
