Verne (Stub) Hanson, 71, of Webster City, died early Saturday morning at the Veterans Administration hospital in Des Moines where he had been a patient for two weeks. He had been in ill health for two months.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. James Pittman officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery.

Flag-folding services will be held at graveside by the American Legion Post 191.

Verne Arlo Hanson, son of James and Nora Carr Hanson, was born Sept. 29, 1910 at Williams. He was reared and educated in the Williams and Radcliffe communities.

He was united in marriage Oct. 1, 1938, to Blanche Jennings at Fort Dodge. The couple lived in Webster City until 1951 when they moved to Waukesha, Wis., residing there until 1968 when they moved back to Iowa. He had been in the masonry contracting work for many years.

He was a veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife in April, 1972.

He is survived by one son, one daughter and two step-daughters: Terry Hanson of Webster City, Mrs. Ronald (Karen) Cross of Webster City, Mrs. Paul (Eleanorea) Clouse of Webster City and Mrs. Edward (Bonnie) Weeks of Wapello, Iowa; 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Leslie (Zada) Wilson of Webster City, Mrs. Walter (Vella) Wilhelm of Menago, Minn., and Charles Hanson of Fort Atkinson, Wis.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, one daughter, his parents and three brothers.

He was baptized in the Lutheran faith.
