Edgar Peck Pilchard, 63, life-long Webster City resident and local businessman, died Saturday night at University Hospitals in Iowa City.

He was a patient in the Iowa City hospital for two weeks and in ill health for three months.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Foster Funeral home, with the Rev. Alva F. Hohl officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland cemetery.

Mr. Pilchard, son of Ervin and Della Peck Pilchard, was born Aug. 8, 1913, in Webster City, where he was reared and educated. He was married June 10, 1933, to Maxine Walton.

The couple farmed south of Webster City until 1954 when they moved to Webster City, where Mr. Pilchard worked at Morton's Frozen foods.

In 1962, Mr. Pilchard purchased the grocery and meat market at the corner of First and Des Moines streets and operated the business until 1970. He had been employed at Dunn's Super Valu since 1972.

Mr. Pilchard is survived by his wife, one son, Robert, and one daughter, Mrs. F.D. (Linda) Griffen, both of Iowa Falls, and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was a member of the United Church of Christ (Congregational), Elks and Moose clubs.
