Mrs. McGilligan Dies at Age 66 Years

Mrs. Zula McGilligan, 66, died at 6:30 last night at the Hamilton county hospital where she had been a patient for the past three days.

Mrs. McGilligan had been in poor health for the past several months.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at St. Thomas Aquinas church, with the Rev. Father D.A. Gorman officiating and burial in Graceland cemetery. A rosary for Mrs. McGilligan will be said at 6:30 Wednesday evening at Foster's funeral home.

Zula May Hall, daughter of Charles C. and Sarah Frances Hall, was born May 31, 1880, in Cottage Hill community in Dubuque county, Iowa. When she was two years old, her family moved to a farm near Algona and in 1894 again moved to Ledyard, Iowa. She received her education there and grew to young womanhood in that community, teaching for several years in both the rural and town schools of that vicinity.

She was united in marriage on June 14, 1898, to Thomas H. McGilligan and they made their home in Ledyard for several years. in 1919 the family moved to Webster City, residing here for five years before moving to Bancroft, Iowa. In 1941 the family returned to this city which had been Mrs. McGilligan's home since.

She was preceded in death by her husband, who died March 18, 1941, by one son, Merrill, who died in 1931, her parents, one brother, Charles, and a sister, Lily.

Mrs. McGilligan is survived by one son, John Hall McGilligan of New York City. Three grandchildren also survive - Mrs. Bonnie Steffin [listed as Steffens in obituary of Mrs. John McGilligan] of Spencer, Robert McGilligan of Florida and Merrill McGilligan, who had made his home with his grandmother up to six weeks ago.

Other survivors include a sister, Mrs. Ruth Clendenning, of this city; two brothers, Alvah Hall of Pengilly, Minn., and Delbert Hall, of Proctor, Minn.; one aunt, Mrs. Neille Greenley of Waterloo, and several nieces and nephews.

A member of the Royal Neighbors and of the Women's Relief Corps, Mrs. McGilligan took an active interest in both organizations. She was known by her friends and associates as a kind and generous mother who will be missed by family and friends alike.
