DIED AT HOME HERE SUNDAY

Services to Be Held Here for John L. Schweppe, Age 71

John L. Schweppe, 71, lifelong resident of this community, died Sunday evening at his home, 500 1/2 Second street, and funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Foster funeral home. The Rev. James T. Stewart will officiate, burial in Graceland cemetery.

John Leedis Schweppe, son of John and Martha Schweppe, was born May 17, 1872 on a farm south of Webster City and attended the rural schools in the neighborhood. Nov. 19, 1898 he was married to Miss Etta Stage who preceded him in death Jan. 13, 1919.

Nov. 24, 1919, he married Mrs. Ida M. Streuve and they moved to a place southeast of Webster City where they farmed until 1927 moving then to a farm in the Saratoga community. Ten years later they retired to Webster City where they had made their home since.

Mr. Schweppe was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters. He is survived by his wife, two adopted children, Dewey Hanson Schweppe of Memphis, Tenn., and Mrs. Ed S. Hartman (Nathille) of this city, there are also 15 nieces and nephews.

Baptized in the United Brethren faith, Mr. Schweppe was a member of the church in this city.

He was a kind and loving husband and father, and a good neighbor and will be greatly missed by a host of friends.
