Dr. L.P. Sterling, 65, former Webster City resident, died at 1:45 p.m. Thursday at the Mercy hospital, Marshalltown. Cause of his death was complications following an operation.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Foster funeral home with the Rev. John Bartlett, of Zearing, officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.

Levi Paul Sterling, son of John C. and Minnie Jane Sterling, was born July 15, 1892, on a farm near Webster City. He attended the Webster City schools and was graduated with the class of 1914. He later attended Iowa State college where he took veterinary training. Following his graduation he returned to Webster City and was associated with the late Dr. A.C. Swanson.

In 1933 he moved to Zearing, where he practiced until 1953. For the past four years he had been a government inspector.

Surviving are his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Dolores) Ladd, Webster City, one granddaughter, Sally Ladd; one great-nephew, Jim Chance, who had made his home with the Sterlings at Zearing; several nieces and nephews; and three sisters, Mrs. Lucille Brock and Mrs. Irene McKee, both of Webster City, and Mrs. Guy (Rachel) Mitchell, of Worthington, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Sam Sterling, and one sister, Mrs. Martha Parker.
