Daily Freeman Journal, Webster City, Iowa, Friday, April 15, 1955

Mrs. Henry Arnold, 80, longtime resident of this community, died at 7:50 p.m. Thursday at Hamilton county hospital where she had been a patient the past 15 days. She had been in failing health the past year.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran church, preceded by a brief service at 2:30 at the Foster funeral home. The Rev. H.H. Schauland will officiate with burial in Graceland cemetery.

Engelina Meyer, daughter of Diedrich and Frances Meyer, was born Sept. 4, 1874 on a farm near Rantoul, Ill., Champaign county, where she was reared and educated.

She was united in marriage Oct. 25, 1893, to Henry Arnold. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold farmed in Illinois until 1899 when they came to Iowa, locating on a farm six and one-half miles southeast of Webster City. They resided there until 1907, when they moved into Webster City, their home since.

Mrs. Arnold is survived by her husband, one son and two daughters: Otto Arnold of Webster City; Mrs. Mae Sterling of Webster City and Mrs. Roy (Florence) Daniels of Grundy Center; five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; three brothers and one sister, W.G. Meyer and H.J. Meyer of Webster City, Gehrhard Meyer of Thomasboro, Ill. and Mrs. Carrie Christian, also of Thomasboro.

Mrs. Arnold was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran church.

A kind and loving wife and mother, Mrs. Arnold's main interests in life were her home and family. She was especially fond of flowers and always enjoyed gardening.
