Webster City Man Killed in Accident Here this Morning

Shop Accident Claims Life of Marvin Jondal

A 29-year old Webster City man, Marvin Jondal, was killed instantly about 7:30 this morning while working at the Osmundson Forge Co.

According to information available, Jondal, his employer, Brad Osmundson, and two other workmen were changing dies in a large press. One of the dies slipped and Jondal was crushed by the machine. According to County Medical Examiner Dr. E.K. Lowary, death was instantaneous.

Jondal is survived by his wife and three young sons, Eugene, 9; Timothy, 7 and Anthony, 2.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Universalist church with the Rev. Harry T. Ehlers officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Foster funeral home until 10 a.m. Thursday when it will be taken to the church.

Survivors, in addition to his wife and sons, include his mother, Mrs. Vera Jondal of Webster City; two brothers and two sisters, Orville Jondal, Webster City; Donald Jondal, Burlington; Mrs. George Kelly, Webster City; and Mrs. Wilbur Van Langen of Kamrar. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his father, one son and one daughter who died in infancy, and a brother and sister.

Marvin D. Jondal, son of Olaf and Vera Jondal, was born June 20, 1934, at Webster City. He was reared and educated in this community. He was united in marriage August 16, 1953, at Boone to Arla Lane. The couple have made their home here in Webster City.
