Stanhope Sentinel, Stanhope, Iowa, Thursday, June 10, 1926

After a lingering illness, The Angel of Death came and relieved the sufferings of Andrew Rehnblom, June 3, 1926, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Eric Berglund. Mr. Rehnblom was born in Leksand Parish, Sweden, January 9, 1855 and had reached the age of 71 years, 4 months and 21 days. At the age of 18, he came to this country together with his parents, and located near Bell's Mill. In 1880 he moved to a farm southwest of Stanhope, where he spent the able days of his life. After a residence of 40 years on this farm he retired from farm life and moved to Stratford, Iowa, in the year of 1916, where he resided five years. The last four years of his life he has made his home with his son, Philip, on the old Homestead, with the exception of one year spent in Seattle, Washington, and during his last illness.

The deceased was truly a pioneer of the community of Stanhope, for when he came to this place it was almost a bare prairie.

He was baptized and confirmed in Sweden in the Lutheran faith and lived steadfast to this faith the remaining days of his life. The departed one was a devout Christian his entire life and had been a member of the Lutheran church at Stratford, Iowa, ever since he came to this country. For many years he served as a trustee and later as a deacon and both financially and in labor contributed much toward the welfare of this church. Good books and church paper were daily read by him and morning and evening devotionals were a part of his daily life, and thru these readings he found the way that leads to eternal life.

He was united in marriage, June 23, 1886, to Charlotte Mathilda Johnson, of Ogden, Iowa. Three children came to bless this union. They are Herbert E., Mrs. Helen Berglund and Philip N. Herbert died at the age of 2 years and the other two children reside near Stanhope. The wife preceded him to the Great Beyond 8 years ago, passing away on Nov. 8, 1918.

He leaves to mourn his passing, these two children, three grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Anna Sandahl, Stanhope, Mrs. Carrie Eklund, Mababa, Washington, and one brother, Oliver Rehnblom of Seattle, Washington, and many other relatives and a host of friends.

The last illness of the deceased was a long one, but he withstood his suffering with great patience.

The funeral was held Sunday, June 6, with a short Prayer service at the Eric Berglund home at 2:15 and at the Lutheran church at Stratford at 3:00 p.m. conducted by Dr. Joseph Anderson, pastor of the Lutheran church at Boxholm, Iowa.

The singing was furnished by Mrs. John Anderson, Mrs. Hilder Anderson, Gust and Alfred Erickson. Also a solo by Miss Ellen Anderson. The pall bearers were Emil Berglund, Alfred Rose, Peter Leksell, Peter Anderson, Ed Barquist and John Anderson.

Interment was made in the Lawn Hill Cemetery, southeast of Stanhope.

This kind and loving father will be sadly missed. May he sleep in Peace until Resurrection morn.

"We shall sleep, but not forever.
There will be a glorious dawn,
We shall meet to part - no never
On the resurrection morn."
