Stanhope Sentinel, Stanhope, Iowa, Thursday, March 12, 1925

Nina Snyder Philp was born on a farm near Stanhope, December 25, 1872 and died in Mercy Hospital at Webster City, March 5th, 1925, following an operation which she underwent Thursday evening, February 26th. She had reached the age of 52 years, 2 months and 8 days. Most of the years of her life have been spent in this vicinity except for a few years, she lived near Dinsdale, in Tama county.

Nina Snyder was united in marriage to James Philp, March 29th, 1893, thirty two years ago. To this union was born six children, three sons and three daughters. All are living except one son and one daughter, who preceded the mother in death.

The deceased will be mourned by her husband, two sons, Leo and Donald of Stanhope; and two daughters, Mrs. Erma Wahman of Stratford, and Mrs. Lucile Hanson of Stanhope, besides, three brothers, Edward and Andrew of Stanhope, William of Forest City, Iowa, and three sisters, Elizabeth Riley of Jewell, Iowa, Mary Jones and Ora Stockwell of Seattle, Washington, also a host of other relatives and friends.

She united with the M.E. Church over 35 years ago, and of which she remained a member until her death.

She was a loving wife and mother and was beloved by all who knew the fullness of her friendship. During her last illness she bore her sufferings patiently, being in great pain until she passed away.

The funeral was held Sunday afternoon from the M.E. Church at 2 o'clock, by Rev. G.H. Dick and interment was made at the Lawn Hill cemetery of Stanhope. Her body was carried to its last resting place by old friends and neighbors who were pall bearers.
