Daily Freeman Journal, Webster City, Iowa, Tuesday, January 9, 1968

Mrs. Esther Peterson, 76, a longtime Stanhope-Stratford area resident, died at the Hamilton County hospital at 1:15 a.m. today. She had been residing at the Hillcrest Nursing home in Webster City since March 13, 1963.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Stratford Calvary Methodist church with Rev. Walter Phelps officiating and with burial in Lawn Hill cemetery at Stanhope. Hanson Funeral home will have charge of arrangements.

Surviving are two nieces, Mrs. Maybell Long of Stanhope and Mrs. Violet Halterman of Des Moines; one nephew, C.L. Fosberg, Stanhope, and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emil Peterson, in 1963, by her parents and two brothers.

Mrs. Peterson was born in Sweden, receiving her education in the Stanhope schools. She was married to Emil Peterson in March, 1934.

She was a member of the Calvary Methodist church at Stratford where she served as pianist for many years. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors and American Legion Auxiliary.
