OLAF NELSON DIES AT HOME

Funeral Tuesday at 2 p.m. In Stanhope

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at Our Saviour's Lutheran church in Stanhope for Olaf Nelson, 84, widely known Stanhope resident, who died at his home there early Sunday morning.

The funeral service, with Foster's in charge, will be held at the church, starting at 2 p.m. Preceding the church rites, a brief service will be held at 1:30 at the home. The Rev. O'Dean Monson will officiate with burial at Lawn Hill cemetery, Stanhope.

Olaf Nelson, son of Nils and Bengia Svenson, was born at Nasum, Sweden, Oct. 21, 1862. He was confirmed in the Nasum Lutheran church and attended school there. He came to the United States at the age of 25, coming to the home of his cousin, Ben Erickson, now deceased, who lived near Stanhope.

On May 2, 1894, he was married to Hilda Hanson and the couple lived in the east Marion community for five years, later moving to a farm east of Stanhope where they resided until two years ago. At that time they retired and moved into Stanhope.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, one brother and two daughters, who died in infancy. Surviving, besides his wife, are the following children: N.H. Nelson, Mrs. Jess Wing and Palmer Nelson, all of Stanhope; Lillian B. Nelson, Marietta, Ohio; Mrs. Lyle Nelson, Watertown, S.D. and Clarence Nelson, Albuquerque, N.M. Also surviving are six grandchildren, and one brother, Nels, and one sister, Bengta, of Sweden.
