MRS. J. DELOS REED IS CALLED BY DEATH

Prominent Woolstock Woman Passes Away at Family Home After Much Suffering

Mrs. J. Delos Reed died yesterday afternoon at 5:20 o'clock at the family home in Woolstock at the age of 35 years.

Mabel Shearer, the daughter of M.U. and Martha Shearer, was born 35 years ago at Fennimore, Wisconsin, where the family still reside. She came to Webster City some sixteen years ago and was a teacher in the rural schools. On Feb. 26, 1898, she was united in marriage to J. Delos Reed. To them four children were born; Ida, Hiel, Helen and Robert. All except little Heil, who died seven weeks ago at the age of ten years, are left motherless.

Mrs. Reed has been ill since last September, but not confined to her bed until the past few weeks. Everything that medical skill and good nursing could devise to stay the progress of what proved to be an incurable disease, seemed of little avail, and her suffering has been very great. Through it all her wonderful patience and thoughtfulness for the comfort of her dear ones will be a blessed memory to them, and in spite of their deep grief, they can be thankful that to her has come peace and rest.

Mrs. Reed has been a consistent member of the Methodist church for many years. She was a devoted wife, an ideal mother; and a faithful friend. The sympathy of the entire community has been with this afflicted family for many weeks.

Besides the husband and children, the deceased leaves a mother - the father having died three months ago - a brother, five sisters and many friends to mourn her death. Her mother and two sisters have been with her much of the time during her illness. One sister, Miss Florence Shearer, is a teacher in the public schools at Boone. The brother, L.M. Shearer, resides at Madison, Wisconsin, one sister Mrs. H.C. Henderson at Fennimore, Wisconsin, and the other, Mrs. Johnson, at La Crosse.

The funeral will be held in Woolstock Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock, with burial in Graceland cemetery, this city. Complete arrangements, however, have not yet been made.
