STANHOPE - Helen Elizabeth Reed was born in Webster City, Aug. 3rd, 1908. She was the second child of Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Reed. At the age of 5, Helen suffered the loss of her mother. Ida Reed, her father's sister, became her guardian and was mother for the three children, Helen, Ida and Robert. They made their home in Webster City with their father and Aunt Ida.

She attended the Iowa State Teachers college and taught school for a period of five years. She was united in marriage to Marlin Granville on Dec. 3, 1933. To this union two children were born; a son, Ronald, and a daughter, Marilyn. In 1941 the family moved from the Stanhope to the Des Moines area.

After a brief but severe illness, she died Jan. 1, 1970. She is survived by her husband, her son, Ronald of Omaha, the daughter, Marilyn of Des Moines; Aunt Ida Reed of Fort Dodge, one sister, Ida Johnson of Iowa City, a brother, Robert of California, and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at the Dahlstrom Funeral home, Des Moines, Jan. 5th with the Rev. Enoch Hall of Stanhope officiating. Interment was in the Lawn Hill Cemetery near Stanhope.
